Our Zimbabwe office seeks to hire an experienced Solar Technician.

Closing date: 16 February 2022The Solar Technician will be responsible for managing all technical correspondence on solar projects in Zimbabwe. He/she will work closely with the Technical Services and Client Services departments in managing project sites and supporting engineering operations in Zimbabwe. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conducting energy audits and assessing locations to ensure they are suitable for solar panels. Performing site visits on new project opportunities to determine the available site power, and utility/facility constraints, collect information regarding construction permits, evaluate potential site support contractors, and assist with preparation of cost estimates. Measuring up areas for installation.
  • Designing a solar panel system based on customer needs and structural conditions and develop the system BOQ under the supervision of the EFL Renewable Engineering Manager. Developing point-point wiring diagrams and select components for company-built control panels.
  • Installing and maintaining solar panels on homes, business premises or open land. Grounding electrical equipment and checking wiring. Assembling and installing the racking, panels, and electrical equipment in compliance with the acceptable engineering standards.
  • Ensuring that standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work are adhered to. Performing system maintenance checks, troubleshooting and fault rectification.
  • Communicating information from the client services to the field engineers and vice versa. Responding to customer complaints by informing field engineers and following up with operations and maintenance schedules on designated sites.
  • Preparing energy audit and efficiency reports in a timely and efficient manner. Monitoring various projects and ensuring effective performance of engineering processes and performing tests on same. Providing technical support for the engineering processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related sciences Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience working on solar projects
  • Familiar with international standards for solar PV systems, and other relevant standards
  • Knowledge of the Energy and power industry
  • Knowledge of other languages such as French is an added advantage
